Before and after the snow
It was such a great scene on Saturday night way after Snow Days was over. About 10 pm, this is what Virgina Street looked like. It sort of seemed like New York or New England with the snow melting along the curb on both sides of the street.
People who didn't know about Snow Days did double takes as they walked by. It was funny to see. They actually bent down to touch the snow to see if it was real. The confetti sort of makes it seem like the end of New Year's Eve, too.
Below is the start of it all, the "first squirt" of snow coming from the snow-making machine. The calm befor the storm, so to speak.
Eight tons didn't look like a lot, but once the kids got in there the smiles on their faces made it seem like any amount of snow was perfect.
Two more Coconut Grove Snow Days to come: Sunday December 13 at the Promenade at Mayfair and Sunday, December 20 on Fuller Street.
