Incredible turnout for Great Grove Bed Race
I'd like to call it the Great Grove Bed Race, but yesterday's race can be called the Incredible Grove Bed Race. Everything came together (including the weather), which made for a perfect, incredibly fun day.
Above, Commissioner Marc Sarnoff and Race Car driver, Helio Castroneves, flank Sylvano Bignon. Sarnoff and Castroneves were celebrity judges, and Sylvano's Greenstreet Cafe, had a bed in the competition.
The winners of the Great Grove Bed Race was the Sandbar Grill team, they came in first place for speed.
Second place went to the UM Sleep Center bed, left, and third went to The Newbiezzz, which was the team from Palmetto Bay, which parodied their recent cat catastrophe.
In the category of look, theme and "wow factor," the four winners were Tucci Umbrellas, above, which came in first.
Second place went to Antoinette Baldwin, who played the Octomom, with her team called Team Woomba (eight is never enough, was their slogan) and third place went to the SoFlo Skate Shop, the new biz on Grand Avenue, who had a pirate-themed bed.
Fourth place for best theme, went to Transit Lounge, had an actual tiki hut bar on wheels.
There was much more to see and do, we'll post more photos tomorrow.
