Summer music camps offered by Conservatory

camp1
Miami Conservatory of Music (MCM) is happy to announce a new format for the music camp offerings this summer. Each session is one week long, and filled with music, fun and learning. MCM will offer Music Discovery, a camp for younger students aged 4 to 11, Broadway & Musical Theater Camp for students aged 6 to 18, and Rock Band for Teens. This new format is designed to target traveling families who do not wish to commit to multi-week camps, opting instead for short-term day camps.

Each camp is scheduled on alternating weeks from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. In the Rock Band Camp, students with some experience on their rock instrument of choice are welcome to participate. Students will learn classic rock tunes, and will also collaborate in song writing. Musical Theater Camp will focus on the ins and outs of auditioning, how to pick an appropriate song, and basic acting skills. Music Discovery is designed for younger students interested in learning about the world of music. Rudiments of music will be presented with fun and games, while new instruments will be introduced every day. At the end of the week, students will know what instruments they will want to continue studying. Guest teachers include two-time Grammy Award winning percussionist Bobby Thomas Jr, singer Amy Alvarado, as well as Andres and Darleen Trujillo.
