There was talk last week about the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) having The Barnacle on it's hit list for the new budget year. It along with a slew of State Parks might have been closed.
Well, last night, State Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera spoke at the Village of Center Grove meeting and he assured everyone that this will not happen.
He is going to ask for a meeting with the new DEP Secretary and if that does not work, he says, "We'll get creative with the state budget."
After all, he is the Chair of Dade Legislative Delegation and he lives in the Grove. He told me he visits The Barnacle often with his family and he doesn't intend for anything to happen with the park.
