Fire House gets a makeover
Fire Station 8, on Oak Avenue, got a makeover recently. The fire fighters painted the station from top to bottom, including the fire hydrant on the corner, making it patriotic.
Ironically, people like this and don't like this. Those that don't like it feel that it was not the job of the fire fighters to paint the station and the city should have handled the job. But the firefighters were proud to paint the station and according to Lt. Bill Christopher, landscaping is the next project.
Lt. Christopher says that the city supplied the paint and the firefighters proudly supplied the manpower. Firefighter Craig Covalt, of the "C" shift spearheaded the project.
I think they did a super job. Love the red walls and love the hydrant, a throwback to the Bi-Centennial in the '70s, when lots of fire hydrants were painted up patriotically.
