I think I found the best Tom Yum Kai soup in Florida. Actually anywhere. It's right on Main Highway at Siam Oishi.
Until now, there was this place in Ft. Lauderdale that had the honor, but Siam Oishi has them beat. They put tomatoes in the soup, which is unusual and not done often and that just adds a perfect taste to the usual lemon grass, chicken and mushrooms. It isn't too spicy, but just right.
I also love their curries -- red, green and Panang, all $12.50 for dinner. At lunch, you can get the curry with the Tom Yum soup for $15.95.
They have quite a large menu. For lunch they have specials like Sushi and Roll for $11.75, this comes with salad or miso soup. Pui, above, is showing that (minus the soup and salad). It is quite large, two of us could not finish it all. There is also Sushi, Sashimi, Tuna Salad for $12.95 which also comes with the soup or salad. And there are quite a few other things on the lunch menu.
The dinner menu is very large. Hot appetizers include Goyza (steamed pork dumplings) for $5.95, which are very tender and delicious. Also Lightly salted steamed soy beans for $4.95.
The usual Sushi and Shasimi Boats are served in their own special way along with Sashimi, rolls and combinations. Prices go from $4.95 for a roll to $19.95 or $21.95 for large Sushi or Sashimi Boats.
Items include soft shell crabs, spicy tuna, salmon, tekka, etc.
Siam Oishi is at 3409 Main Highway. They are open Monday-Wednesday from noon to 3:30 pm for lunch and 5:00 to 10:30 pm for dinner; Thursday-Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm. They may be reached at 305-446-8800.
I sort of get neurotic when I like something. I had three meals there within 24 hours. I can actually have the Tom Yum Kai soup daily and not just because it's named after me. :)
