Low quality, high prices, every time
Milam's continues to have the highest prices in the Grove. I don't see how the poor people can afford it. Now, I'm not tryng to be a hater here, I am just stating the facts. I guess I am the fool because I keep going back, but I like to try and support all Grove businesses.
But The Fresh Market is lower priced all of the time, and of course, so is Publix. The Fresh Market's Bistro Meals for $6.99 are superior to Milam's dried out overpriced deli food and there is more of a variety and superior quality at The Fresh Market.
I keep thinking I'll run in there for a thing or two, but it's really getting out of hand now. They have no conscience. The deli items are the most overpriced.
Guess Max Milam wants us all to pay for his store's renovations overnight. But people aren't stupid, at The Fresh Market and Publix the check out lines 10 deep. Milam's has three customers at a time usually. That says it all.

Concert to commemorate 40 year anniversary of Woodstock
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous Woodstock concert, the School of Rock will be holding a Woodstock concert on Saturday, August 15 in Peacock Park.
The concert starts at 5 pm and includes two local acts and a series of assembled School of Rock Music student bands, which will pay homage to Woodstock by recreating songs performed from the original 1969 concert.
Food and drink vendors will also be on site. They are encouraging everyone to bring the family and a blanket.
The organizers of event are hoping to recapture the spirit of an era that symbolized freedom, culture and unity. And now, thanks in part with the Grove’s involvement, they can pass the legacy of Woodstock to a new generation of young musicians who are embracing the ideals and principles of the magic of Woodstock.

Early Halloween planning
CocoWalk has a call out for Halloween ideas already. But how can you improve on the organic street party that just envelopes the Grove on Halloween night?
The locals hang out at Olav's and that's a lot of fun, and of course the haunted house should be brought back. I think a costume shop is essential. Anything else?
Here's our slide show from last Halloween

Parking grace periods need to be observed

They seem to be lenient in South Beach these days with overdue parking meters. On weekends, you can't get a table at any restaurant on Ocean Drive or Lincoln Road they are packed with people. The City of Miami Beach knows this and they would rather have happy customers than upset people with parking tickets who will not return. So as a result, the restaurants and stores do a bang up business.
A friend's meter was expired for almost two hours on Ocean Drive last Saturday, yet her car was not ticketed.
In the Grove, people have seen parking attendants counting the minutes until tickets expire, the Parking Authority ticket writers have literally been seen standing over cars looking at their watches, counting the minutes. This was the scene Sunday at 6:30 pm, wonder how many of the ticketed people will return to Monty's next week.
Do they know there is a grace period? Do they know they are getting out of hand now?
The City of Miami just hired many new employees while other cities are suffering and Miami has a hiring freeze. Coincidence? I wonder. Even Commissioner Marc Sarnoff is quoted as saying, "It goes against common sense." He means the hirings, not the parking authority overzealous ticket writers. We mean both, the ticket jockeys and the hirings.
