Police / crime updates

We have a new Neighborhood Resource Officer, named Chris Vital, he will be patrolling the streets with Officer Matthew Vasquez.

Their numbers are:
Officer Vital: 786-529-7524
Officer Vasquez: 954-821-4755
and the Commander, Richard Gentry's number is: 786-521-0599.

For emergencies, please call 911 before you call the officers' numbers.

Decreases in crime have been reported in most of the Grove, but again, there were more bicycle thefts -- the bike rack at 24 Hour Fitness is notorious for this, it's recommended to tie your bike up across the street at the bicycle shaped rack there. As for the bicycle shaped rack on Virginia Street, since the Bookstore is now not there, it's sort of a desolate area on that side.

Speaking of bicycle thefts, one of my neighbors had her bicycle stolen in the middle of the night. Our security cameras show someone coming onto the property about 4:30 am on Wednesday morning and grabbing the bike and leaving. The bicycle was not locked up,but still, it's kind of creepy to know that a crook is lurking around your property while you sleep.
