Gem and Mineral Show at MiaSci

MiaSci and the Miami Mineralogical Lapidary Guild are presenting the annual Gem and Mineral Show. This year, pieces from the Smithsonian's "American Gemstone Jewelry Collection" will be featured. Visitors will also enjoy an array of classes, workshops and demonstrations and will also have the opportunity to interact with vendors, designers and enthusiasts.

The "American Gemstone Jewelry Collection" is a 31-piece collection of jewelry donated to the Smithsonian by the American Gem Society (AGS) in 1989. The collection was commissioned by the association of retail jewelers and manufacturers in the U.S. and Canada, "to help increase Americans’ understanding and appreciation of native gemstones." Coty Award winner, Aldo Cipullo, a well-known jewelry designer who created the famous "love" bracelet for Cartier, designed each one-of-a-kind piece.

The show is Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17 from 10 am to 6 pm, both days at the Miami Science Museum (3280 S. Miami Avenue). Gem show admission is free with regular paid Museum admission. For info: 305-646-4200.
