Press release just in:
Commission Chairman Marc Sarnoff, representatives from Paradise Gym, the Downtown Athletic Club, and 24 Hour Fitness will unveil brand new state-of-the-art outdoor workout equipment at Kennedy Park (2400 Bayshore Drive), at 11am on Wednesday, January, 13.
Commissioner Sarnoff will also announce a new partnership with several local gyms in which fitness trainers will be available at no cost for residents in exchange for promotional opportunities within the park.
“Men’s Fitness Magazine named Miami as the fattest in America for 2009, our populations scored an F in the overweight/sedentary category,” says Commissioner Sarnoff. “This is unacceptable. Especially with our tough economy, you won’t find a better price than zero to work out with top notch trainers on high end equipment.”
Aida Johnson, a Coral Gables fitness trainer helped to create a similar program in Chicago and is contributing ideas to Commissioner Sarnoff which are aimed at getting residents motivated to work out. “The TriActive Fitness equipment in Kennedy Park is second to none and provides an excellent total body workout,” says Johnson. “I encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity.”
