The 33rd Annual Goombay Festival is taking place right now on Grand Avenue, from Douglas Road to McDonald Street.
You can't miss the music, dancing and delicious food smell coming from all directions.
There is lots of brass and lots of drums and the party really doesn't start until the Junkanoo Parade starts, then you can feel the quietness of the festival transform into a big party.
The food is delicious, there is all kinds, the most popular is the seafood. Here the conch salad is made fresh right before your eyes. This girl was laughing, saying, "He's taking pictures of the food!"
I got a blue raspberry shaved ice from Penny and Crystal, above left. And here at the Kilo Kai rum booth is Ben Arndt, from Cabana One and Camille DePhillips, of Prince Media Development.
The festival is all day, come out and dodge the rain drops then stay for the First Saturday Art Stroll, where there will be more partying with more food and drink at Mayfair, a model runway show at the Windisch-Hunt Gallery and even the Gemini Party after that. And all the galleries in the village are showing their best tonight, with openings of some new works. Make it a Coconug Grove Saturday -- night and day!
