Lots of new teams this year for Grove Bed Race

A nice crowd showed up for this week's Great Grove Bed Race Get Rolling Gathering happy hour at Acropolis Greek Taverna. The "inchometer" went wild for Sapient, a newcomer this year, who brought 20 people! The inchometer gives you inches on race day according to how many people your team brings to the gatherings.

This cool birthday cake for committee member Barbara Ferenczi was a hit with the crowd. It was Barbara's birthday mixed in with the Get Rolling Gathering. It was created by Graciela Martinez and her Tiky Sweet Treats.

Here is how many people the teams brought and this is some of the teams and the team names, there are a lot of new teams this year:

Coral Gables Woman's Club: 4

The Oasis: 2
Grove Ink/Lucky7: 1

Sonia Jacobson, (above) Founder and Executive Director of Dress for Success, the charity involved, gave a moving speech and Deano, owner of Acropolis was very generous in providing Sangria for everyone and 10% from every bill that night went to Dress for Success. He had Sonia break a plate to celebrate the occasion; Greek-style.

Noe Garcia, owner of Grove Ink/Lucky7, brought his bed from last year so the new teams could get an idea of what they look like and how they are constructed to race.
