Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove, the only all-girls school for grades pre-K through 12 in the state of Florida, recently announced that investor and philanthropist Miguel B. "Mike" Fernandez and family have donated $1 million to the school toward the building of a new Wellness Center.
Fernandez currently serves as Chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, L.P., a private equity firm with committed capital in excess of $500 million located in Coral Gables. The firm invests in numerous health care services companies locally and nationwide. He has been honored numerous times in recognition of his highly successful business ventures and dedicated community service.
Carrollton’s Wellness Center will be a teaching facility and a center for athletics. The state-of-the-art building will include athletic training facilities, a gymnastics studio, weight cardio center, an indoor running track and a gymnasium able to support two volleyball courts and a full basketball court. Carrollton will also support underserved young girls in the community at the Wellness Center through its relationships with The Barnyard, Breakthrough Miami and the Honey Shine Mentoring Program.
