It was a mix between Big Foot and Big Bird
Big yellow footprints started appearing all over the Grove yesterday afternoon and people started following them. We followed them to the source, these two: Audrey Scott (below left) with Theresa Calluori. They were spraying the sidewalks (with a temporary chalk spray) in preparation of the First Saturday Gallery Walk. We think less is more, but they went all out and covered all the sidewalks with the yellow chalk, which apparently worked, because people were following the yellow footsteps all over the Grove, which led from one end to the other.
There were also Green Lanterns put out (actual lanterns, not the crime fighters) to indicate where the galleries were. It was a fun busy night, one of the best Gallery Walks ever. We'll have posts on last night's events coming up in a bit.
Audrey is part of the Sprint Art Teacher Show: "Seeing Nature" at the Biscayne Nature Center on Key Biscayne, put on by the Dade Art Educators Association.
The opening reception is today, May 2, from 4 to 7 pm, and the show lasts until July 4, 2010. County art teachers are the featured artists, their purpose is to promote and keep art in public schools.
