Restaurant Reality Check
Pommes and Pane Café
Continuing in our series, let's take a look at Olav's Pommes and Pane Café (at Virginia and Florida). Most of Olva's clients are locals mixed with some hotel guests from the Mayfair across the street.
Random prices there are as follows:
Colada is $1.75
Cappucino/Café con leche: $2.55
Tea (breakfast, Earl Gray or Green tea): $1.45
Beer and wine are priced on the menu.
Domestic beer is $3.00 a bottle
Import bottle is $4.25
Domestic draft is $2.00 for 11 oz. size and $2.75 for 14 oz. size
Wine by the glass (red or white) is $4.50
Chili con Carne with onions and crackers: $4.25
Hot Dog from the grill: $3.00
2 Eggs, bacon and toast is $5.25 (they add a little lettuce and tomato as garnish, I always love that touch. They also have lots of breakfast items).
I was told by someone who knows the Grove that Olav has the best fries, they have Pommes Frites on the menu for $2.50, I assume those are the fries.
BLT is $4.75
Meatball sandwich or hogie: $5.75
Chunky tuna salad sandwich or hogie: $5.50
Classic Reuben: $6.75
Roast Beef: $5.75
Chicken breast sandwich: $7.25
They also have happy hour daily and daily specials. Pricing looks terrific at Olav. Those are just a few random items from the large menu. They accept call in orders for take out at 305-774-6696.
They are open 7 am to 9 pm, Mon.-Wed; 7 am to 12 am Thurs. & Fri., 8 am to 10 pm Sat. and closed Sunday, although Olav does open for special Sunday occasions like the recent BarCamp and the King Mango Strut and things like that.
