A summit was held last week. The Chamber, Merchants Group and BID all met to discuss upcoming Grove events.
Christmas was one of the main items on the agenda.
Something new: There will be a moving Coconut Grove Holiday Village, where local businesses can sponsor one of the houses. Think bed from the Bed Race, only it's a house or store, sort of Bahamian-style, on the base. We'll give more details when we have the plans and forms for you to download. There will be a specific way to build or have the houses built and there is an entry fee, etc. A big Christmas kick-off event is planned for Saturday, December 5 for the unveiling of the village, a Christmas tree, all the lights, etc.
Speaking of lights, the BID will be offering Christmas lights to businesses in the central business district, so that we can have a nice colorful lit up holiday season. A letter went out to all businesses and the Christmas committee will follow up with a walk-around next week to be sure everyone signs up and receives the lights.
