Had a great time at PhilanthroFest on Saturday. The event held downtown at the Wolfson Campus downtown. All sorts of charities had tables and booth set up and it was a share event, where they shared themselves with the visitors. People learned about the different organizations and it really makes Miami a better place. Above, Josh Kingston, of Coconut Grove, plants a sign.
From left, Ed Cantera with the Key Biscayne Kiwanis Club and Harry Gottlieb; at right, Mike Butler and Adriana Serna with Elastic Mind Project.
Here's Alice Billman, artistic director of Mobile Micro Theater. This is really cool. There is production going on in the bus right behind Alice. They take theater to the people, literally! I think this would be a great thing for the Grove. Maybe on Gallery Walk night or something, the bus can be parked somewhere, and the shows could be going on all night inside. They have a show every 15 minutes, the cost is $5 per show.
Another Grovite was at Philanthrofest. Victoria Edwards, with her friend Monica Welch.
Drag it OUT had a booth there, they are a commUNITY with a radical vision. They create platforms where individual expression is appreciated and accepted. Their booth was fun as you could dress up in drag and take photos against a backdrop.
