Bacardi Cup back in Coconut Grove next week

The 84th annual Bacardi Cup, coming to Coconut Grove the week of March 6-12, 2011, marks a historic moment for the Star class as it celebrates 100 years since its inception.

The Viper 640 is returning for their Pan American Championship, Melges 20 for their Winter Series, the Melges 24, and the J/24. This incredible line up of sport boats, along with the natural beauty of Biscayne Bay, the perfect Miami weather and camaraderie will make for another memorable and exciting event.

Three of the seven nights of this popular regatta will entail Bacardi sponsored events at various bars and restaurants throughout the Grove to allow the hundreds of visiting and local sailors to enjoy our unique village.

The North Hall of the Grove Expo Center will open its doors to the public on Sunday, March 6 for a special art event. Two well known artists, Italian sailing photographer Franco Pace with “The Sails of Franco Pace” and Miami’s own favorite pop Artist Stephen Gamson will show their works. The art exhibit will also feature a collection of information, artifacts and photos of the Star boat that in 2011 celebrates its anniversary.
