When we wrote about Design Box (3094 Fuller Street) last month, it got a lot of reaction, people stopped by the store and enjoyed their eclectic collection. This is the place to get one-of-a-kind gifts.


These little boxes and cups are from the Sweet Children line by Thai artist M.L. Chiratorn Chirapravati, part of the Thai Royal family. He has designed Christmas cards for UNICEF for many years. Sales of the boxes and cups benefit children in need in his homeland.


There are so many hand made items, you'll spend awhile going through them all.


These colorful reversible handmade Indian blankets are $145.




Design Box has a number of marionettes.
This Pinocchio is $85, the prices go up to $185.

"Natural Selection" exhibit premiering Monday

The Coconut Grove Arts Gallery (3390 Mary Street, suite 128) is presenting "Natural Selection," an art exhibit opening on Monday, November 29 during the Coconut Grove Art Basel night. The opening party is from 7 to 9 pm. The art will be shown up until and including the December 4 Gallery Walk and be available for viewing until January 7, 2011.

It's an extraordinary showcase of visionary works by young emerging and established artists from South Florida who work and live around the world. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be provided, along with live music. The event is free and open to the public.

Memorial set for Chiz

Timothy "Chiz" Chisholm passed away Friday, Nov 19, after battling cancer.

Chiz was a familiar face at the VFW and the Barracuda Bar in Coconut Grove. He was literally part of the furniture at Barracuda, as he had his very own bar stool, and beware anyone who took his seat!

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone who needed help.

A memorial service will be held at the VFW on Saturday, December 4 starting at 2 pm. The VFW is located at 2750 SW 16 Street, Miami - 305-448-9296.
