On the waterfront
While looking through photos to find something nice for our masthead, I came across a bunch of Coconut Grove waterfront photos. I added a bunch to Facebook today. You can check them out here: http://www.facebook.com/coconutgrovegrapevine
RSVP early for Pajama Pub Crawl
The night before the Great Grove Bed Race (Sept. 6) is the Pajama Pub Crawl (Sept. 5).
The pub crawl is from 7 to midnight and involves about eight Grove bars. There will be "passport" booklets, which will enable you to go from bar to bar and participate. Even the Bookstore is involved, one of the stubs is for a free coffee -- a sort of sober up pit stop at the end of the night.
To RSVP early and avoid any waits on Pub Crawl night, please email info@thegreatgrovebedrace.com. This will enable you to get your passport fast and not wait in long lines. Hundreds of people are expected.

It's a nice way to spend Saturday night
That's Ryan Stone and his band last night on Commodore Plaza for the final of five Summer Rendezvous Block parties. Hopefully the block parties will return soon. I know there is talk about it and there was a meeting last week to discuss just that.
Ryan was looking right at me, he then pointed and made some comments about me and the Grapevine, I was a bit embarrassed, the crowd laughed but I did appreciate the nice remarks.
On the other end of the street Nil Lara performed and of course lovely Daniela was in the center
of the block, dressed as a Geisha girl this week.
People are really getting into the groove of the block party and they just expect it now. I ran into Commissioner Marc Sarnoff last night, whose baby it is. He joked with me and asked me to be kind when I write about it, but to be honest, there is nothing to be unkind about. It's a great thing enjoyed by everyone.
It's nice seeing all the merchants and restaurant owners out and about on the street enjoying the music and art. After their performance, Ryan and his band went around looking at art and checking everything out. I like how people even know to bring their own beach chairs now. They are coming to the event prepared!
More familes were out this week, there were kids on bikes and Razor scooters. Here, AnnaMaria and Dominique look on as Maxie plays around on the street.
Every seat was taken at every restaurant, people were taking it all in, they were coming in droves down Main Highway to the party. The Art Stroll at Mayfair had a large crowd and there were people in between, all over the place.
There was more art at the block party this week and there seemed to be much more to do on the street this week. I honestly think people will feel a void next Saturday when it's not there. In the past five weeks, it has become a tradition for many of us.
Shifting Gears energy workshop
Understand how to gage and shift your energy to achieve powerful results and attain your goals without struggle. This is unlike any energy work or law of attraction workshop you have ever attended. On Saturday, August 8, at 1 pm, Atena Komar will teach you her powerful methods for reading and understanding your energy, gaging your underlying belief and your emotional alignment to desired results.
You will learn how your energy interacts with the energy of others, how this can hinder or help your goals and how you can help shift how you are reacting to these outside forces.
You will learn real, hands-on techniques to align your will, desires and manifesting energies using your natural ability to sense your emotions, your aura and your chakra systems. No psychic ability is needed to use this, no magic tricks and no big secrets, just simple, easy to learn methods you can use right away to heal your blockages and attain your goals.
The workshop includes a free photo of your aura to help actually see your energy! Only $65.00.
Please register at Blu Moon Studio of Art (where the workshop will take place), by calling 305-529-5006 or emailing sheri@blumoonstudio.com. Blu Moon is at 3444 Main Highway.
They get nasty when they're drunk
Some of the bar crawlers from the Crawl for Cancer yesterday were down right nasty. This group here was in a foul mood, they are giving me the hand here, was the finger next? I don't know, I didn't stick around to find out. They were coming from CocoWalk, so maybe Crazy Pianos pissed them off. Could be.
I ended up at the Sandbar and then Mr. Moe's. These other groups at Moe's were in the spirit of the thing, but then again they were at Moe's, how can you be moody there?
It was all for a good cause, so the winner was the American Cancer Society after all.
